Getting Ready for Indonesia

Jakarta cityscape

Jakarta, Indonesia's dynamic capital, is a city of striking contrasts and vibrant charm, where skyscrapers rise alongside centuries-old markets.

In August, expect a warm tropical climate, with temperatures between 24°C and 32°C (75°F to 90°F) with high humidity. Traffic is famously unpredictable, so be sure to plan & allow time for transport.

Nestled just an hour south of Jakarta, Bogor offers a peaceful contrast with its cool climate and scenic landscapes. With lush greenery, it's the perfect retreat from the capital's fast pace.

In August, temperatures in Bogor range from 21°C to 30°C (70°F to 86°F)—fresh, breezy, and ideal for outdoor gatherings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ

TRAVEL

Will I need a visa to enter Indonesia?

Check if you need a visa at evisa.imigrasi.go.id or with your local Indonesian consulate. Many nationalities get 30-day visa-free entry, others need an eVisa or Visa on Arrival. Apply for an eVisa online to skip airport queues.

What clothes should I bring?

Light and airy clothes, along with your attire for the dinner and reception, you can check out the dress code section for inspiration.

When should we arrive for the wedding?

We suggest arriving in the morning of Thursday, August 7th, so there is ample time to travel to Rancamaya (it's around a 1-2 hour drive from the Airport, although traffic may be unpredictable) and get settled before the welcome dinner. Otherwise, you are welcome to come earlier and explore Jakarta.

What airport should we fly into?

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is the main airport in Jakarta, and where the airport transfer will pick you up.

Will there be transport to the venue?

Yes, we have arranged transportation from Soekarno Hatta International Airport to R-Hotel in Rancamaya. There will also be shuttles to and from R-Hotel and the wedding venue, our family home.

Where are we staying?

You will be staying at R-Hotel within the Rancamaya Golf and Country Club grounds in Bogor. It's a few minutes drive from the wedding venue.

Can I extend my trip and explore more of Indonesia?

Absolutely! Bali, Yogyakarta, Lombok, Komodo, and Raja Ampat are popular destinations.

INDONESIA

Is it safe to drink tap water?

No, stick to bottled or filtered water for drinking and brushing teeth!

What's the weather like?

Indonesia is tropical — expect hot and humid weather when you land. Although temperatures are cooler at the wedding venue since it's within the mountains in Bogor!

Is there anything I should know about local customs?

Modesty is appreciated, especially in religious or rural areas. Shoes are often removed before entering homes or some venues. A polite nod or smile goes a long way, and using your right hand for handshakes or giving items is respectful.

What currency is used, and how should I handle money?

The currency is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Cash is king in many places, but cards are accepted at hotels and large restaurants. ATMs are widely available but notify your bank before traveling.
